Saline and vehicle injected snails exhibit ITM and LTM. A) Snails injected with saline 1 h prior to a 30 min training session (TS) exhibit intermediate-term memory (ITM) when given a memory test (MT) at 3 h (30' TS vs. 3 h MT, p < 0.01, n = 12). B) Snails injected with saline 1 h prior to a 60 min training session (TS) exhibit long-term memory (LTM) when tested for memory (MT) 24 h later. LTM formation was not inhibited by saline injection (60' TS vs. 24 h MT p < 0.001, n = 12). C) Vehicle injection had no effect on the ability to form ITM (30'TS vs. 3 h MT p < 0.001, n = 12).
