  1. The average ages in ALS and control cases were 73.2 ± 8.9 y and 83.2 ± 4.4 y, respectively. All ALS cases in this study showed TDP-43 cytoplasmic aggregation in the spinal cord. Age, age of the patient at death; Patient A-F, individuals with ALS; C1-C5, normal controls with no neurological disorder affecting the spinal cord.
