Fig. 1

Identification of neonatal astrocytes in hippocampal stratum radiatum region. Neonatal astrocytes in stratum radiatum region revealed in BAC-ALDH1L1-eGFP mice (a1). The same ALDH1L1-eGFP+ cells in a1 were co-localized with SR101 staining (a2–3). High magnification images of an ALDH1L1-eGFP+/SR101 stained cell, indicated by arrows in a1–3, are shown in b1–3. The eGFP and SR101 staining show a similar subcellular labeling pattern. The eGFP in the somas of neonatal astrocytes identified in ALDH1L1-eGFP stratum radiatum region (c1) were co-localized with GFAP immunostaining (c2, c3). High magnification images of an ALDH1L1-eGFP+/GFAP+ cell, indicated by arrows in c1–3, are shown in d1–3. The difference in subcellular labeling of both markers is evident. e The quantification of the colocalization of ALDH1L1-eGFP+ and SR101. f The quantification of the colocalization of ALDH1L1-eGFP+ and GFAP
