Representative high-magnification (20x) IF images (b, d) were used for densitometry analysis. Representative low-magnification (10x) IF images of orexin field (e) and high magnification images of orexin neurons (f, 63x, oil). Image J was used to quantify the intensity of GFAP and IBA1 staining and density of IBA1 positive cells. The A53T mice showed an increased expression of GFAP (g) and IBA1 (h) compared to WT mice. The A53T mice showed increased density of IBA1 positive cells (i) and no change in orexin A positive cell numbers (j). (n = 5/group; Student’s T test; **p < 0.01)
