AQP4 is concentrated in the perivascular (arrows) and in subvitreal membrane domains (arrowheads) in the WT (a and d) and β1-syn KO (b and e) animals. Perivascular AQP4 staining is strongly reduced in αβ1-syn KO mice (c and f). In both the knockouts, AQP4 labeling is increased along the entire length of Müller cell and around the inner nuclear layer. Nuclear staining is shown in white.
