Schematic overview of the expression characteristics of SLC12A2 and SLC12A5. SLC12A2 in cluster 8 is enriched for the biological functions of non-neural cells, and is mainly expressed in oligodendrocytes. It is distributed in the brainstem and basal ganglia and is associated with demyelinating disease. SLC12A5 in cluster 9 is enriched for the biological functions of neural cells. A high expression of this gene is detected in neurons. It is primarily distributed in the cerebral cortex, especially in the visual and parietal lobes, and is associated with neuralgia and epilepsy
