(B, C) Intracellular calcium level ([Ca2+]i) in cjiN cells was measured by the intensity of Fluo-4 fluorescence. Electrical field stimulation (40 Hz for 5 seconds) induces a robust elevation of [Ca2+]i in some synapsin reporter-positive cells. The increase in [Ca2+]i was reversibly suppressed by the specific voltage-gated sodium channel blocker, tetrodotoxin. Scale bar; 50 μm.
